PHC stays death sentence of two convicts of military court

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Thursday stayed execution of two others alleged terrorists who had been awarded death sentence by a military court in the terrorism cases.
The court suspended the death sentence after the convicted men- Abdul Majeed and Israr Ahmad- families filed review petition in the high court. The court issued a notice to the federal government to submit record of the case by September 8.
The court passed the order after hearing the initial argument of petitioners’ lawyers.
The convicted terrorists, hailing from Charbagh area of Swat, were involved in attacks on security forces during militancy regime in the area.
Earlier, the PHC had also suspended death sentences of four terrorists, and their appeals are still pending in the high court.
