PIA flight escapes crash after bird hits engine

LAHORE: Lahore-bound flight of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) from Abu Dhabi, PK-264 escaped crash on Thursday after a bird hit its engine.
Reportedly, the accident took place as the aircraft was landing at Allama Iqbal International Airport.
The incident has come in a day after a flight of PIA crashed near Abbottabad claiming lives of all 48 persons on board including crew consisting of five people.
Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan expressed grief over the incident and directed for immediate rescue operation however, owing to remotely situated crash site, the teams were able to access the site after around 40 minutes.
The Interior Minister formed a five-member committee to probe the crash.
