PM can intervene in Sindh affairs under Article 149: MQM-P

KARACHI: Mutahida Quami Movement (MQM) Pakistan has demanded of the prime minister to intervene in Sindh under article 149 of the constitution.
Addressing a press conference MQM leaders including Amir Khan, federal minister Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and others said that Article 149 is part of the constitution and the prime minister has authority to intervene in the province’s affairs. They said that the Sindh was passing through crisis like situation.
Khalid Maqbool alleged that the Sindh government was involved in corruption and the PPP’s attitude has divided the Sindh and only announcement was left. He said that the PPP has deceived the MQM and people through 18th Amendment. He said that Karachi was facing many problems and riots could erupt over water issue in the city. He said that the Sindh has been divided into two parts with the quota system.
He said that the PPP has usurped the rights of the people in the name of provincial autonomy. The MQM leaders announced that the party would hold public meeting on April 27 at Jinnah Bagh.
