PM Kakar arrives in New York to lead Pakistan’s delegation at UNGA

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar issued clear instructions to promptly present a comprehensive plan for the restructuring of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

In a high-level meeting focused on PIA, chaired by the prime minister, he also emphasized the need to enhance air connectivity between remote areas and other cities in the country.

The prime minister stressed that PIA’s flight schedules should be designed to cater to the convenience of passengers. He highlighted the historical significance of PIA as a vital national institution that has previously provided exceptional air services and established a positive global reputation, being regarded as one of the world’s premier airlines.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar urged both the aviation division and PIA management to work tirelessly to restore the airline’s former glory. During the meeting, it was disclosed that recent amendments to the PIA Act of 2016 have created the framework for restructuring the airline.

Notable attendees at the meeting included Caretaker Minister for Finance Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Advisor to the Prime Minister Ahad Cheema, and other relevant officials.
