KARACHI: Karachi police on Wednesday evening arrested Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda from Shahrah-i-Faisal of Karachi after negotiations failed to clear road for traffic in the limits of airport police station.
Vawda, who was leading a rally by a hitherto unknown youth organisation and had blocked Karachi’s busiest thoroughfare for last five hours.
SSP Malir Rao Anwar himself arrested Faisal Vawda when he was addressing the protest demonstration of civil society.
Heavy contingent of police and rangers arrived the area to clear the road for traffic. The police resorted to baton-charge to disperse the participants of the rally, which caused massive traffic jam on Karachi’s main artery.
The police said that nobody took permission to hold rally on Shahrah-e-Faisal.
