Polio case surfaces in Qilla Abdullah district of Balochistan

Pakistan records second polio case in 15 months

QUETTA: Another polio case has been reported in Qilla Abdullah district of Balochistan taking the number of polio cases to four in Balochistan province during the current year.
An official of the provincial health department confirmed the new case on Saturday and said that the five-month-old boy was never vaccinated since his parents had refused the drops during the polio drives.
Balochistan Health Department informed that as many as four polio cases have so far been reported, two from Qilla Abdullah while one each from Quetta and Jafferabad during the current year.
The total number of polio-affected children across the country has reached to 41 during the current year including two from Balochistan, Punjab (3), Sindh (3), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (25) while eight polio cases have been reported from tribal districts.
