KARACHI: Sindh Assembly proceedings were disrupted on Thursday when the treasury and opposition members traded blows on the floor of the house.
The opposition leader Khawaja Izharul Hasan and others members had to intervene and separate the MQM and PPP MPAs involved in the brawl.
The MQM leader said that no specific person was at fault but the wrong process opted for procedures was the reason to blame for the unfortunate incident.
“The incident happened due to a misunderstanding between MQM’s Azeem Farooqi and PPP’s Mukesh Kumar Chawla,” Khawaja Izhar said, adding that the issue has now been sorted and both the lawmakers braced each other.
The scuffle began when PPP MPA Shameem Mumtaz criticised the opposition members for talking about the party leaders in Dubai, referring to Asif Ali Zardari and Sharjeel Memon.
She said if the opposition talks about leaders in Dubai, they would also take to task those in London, referring to MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
The MQM lawmakers got up from their seats and engaged in a physical fight with the PPP MPAs.
