ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar Tuesday called on President Drt Arif Alvi and discussed current economic and political situation with him. Sources said that the president refused to issue financial ordinance prepared under IMF condition.
According to sources, federal finance minister briefed the president about talks and accord with the IMF. The president appreciated the government for talks with IMF on revival of programme. He said that the state of Pakistan would abide by its promises with the IMF. The Finance minister informed the president that the government wanted to issue ordinance to raise additional revenue for implementation of the IMF condition and accord. However, the president refused to issue the ordinance immediately and advised the government to pass the financial bill from the National Assembly. He said that the parliament should be taken into confidence over this important issue.
The sources said that the government had prepared ordinance for raising Rs 200 billion additional revenue as per IMF conditions. However, after president’s refusal the government would pass the financial bill from National Assembly and Senate.
The sources said that Ishaq Dar also suggested charter of economy among political parties. The sources added that the president has contacted PTI chief Imran Khan after the meeting and discussed the current economic and political situation of the country.
