ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High court Thursday rejected the PTI’s petition against the show-cause notice of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in prohibited funding case.
A larger bench of the high court, comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, Justice Miangul Hassan and Justice Babar Sattar, had reserved the verdict on January 11 after completion of the arguments. The PTI had challenged the show-cause notice of the ECP in foreign funding case.
In August 2022, the election commission issued a show-cause notice to the PTI after it concluded that the party received funding from prohibited sources. The notice was later challenged by PTI in the IHC.
The verdict was announced verbally. The high court declared the ECP’s show-cause notice was legal and rejected the petition of the PTI.
