ISLAMABAD:Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan have entered into a collaborative agreement by signing a joint protocol with the aim of linking the Uzbek rail network to Pakistan Railways.

The planned route for this railway connection will traverse through Termiz in Uzbekistan, passing through Mazar-i-Sharif and Logar in Afghanistan, and ultimately reaching Pakistan via the Kharlachi border crossing in Kurram.

This rail link is designed to cater to both passenger and freight services, and its establishment is expected to make significant contributions to regional trade and bolster economic growth.

In a significant event held in Islamabad, representatives from the respective countries gathered to sign the protocol. Among those present were Minister for Railways, Saad Rafiq, and Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar.
