KARACHI: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 5 begun with a spectacular opening ceremony at Karachi’s National Stadium with at least 350 artists electrified the excited crowd.
Abrar-ul-Haq, Aima Baig, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sajjad Ali, Sanam Marvi and rock band Soch mismerised the audience at the event with fans demonstrating excitement and enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, Haroon and Asim Azhar performed PSL 2020’s official anthem Tayyar Hain.
The ceremony also included riveting acts and a spectacular fireworks show.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah congratulated the people and said that because of them the inauguration ceremony is taking place in Karachi.
Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani said: “In March last year we promised to conduct the PSL completely in Pakistan and we have fulfilled it.”
“I thank the provincial governments, sponsors, law enforcement agencies for cooperating with us,” he said, adding that he was very grateful to foreign players as well.
Quetta Gladiators and the Islamabad United will lock horns as the two-time champions face off against arguably the strongest team in the tournament and defending champions Quetta Gladiator.
