LAHORE: Senior PTI leaders claimed that Aleem Khan would emerge as the winner on October 11, defeating PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq.
Addressing a massive gathering in Lahore on Friday, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi lashed out at Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid for dubbing Imran Khan as an “agent of enemies.”
“You may have objections to ideology and style of Imran Khan’s politics, but you cannot question his patriotism,” he said. He regretted that Pervaiz Rashid had resorted to personal attacks in his press conference yesterday.
Qureshi congratulated the residents of NA-122 and his supporters for what he described as successful campaign. “Lahore had supported the PTI even in May 2013 elections. But unfortunately, referee was not found to be neutral,” he said.
Qureshi commended Aleem Kan for running a courageous and successful political campaign in Lahore.
Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid claimed that PML-N would suffer a defeat in the by-election of NA-122, Lahore. “Mr. Nawaz Sharif, you will face the defeat,” Rashid said.
He lashed out at the PML-N leaders for accusing Imran Khan of being an agent. “I will not remind you when your son was seeking help from Vajpayee (former Indian Prime Minister,” he said, without any further explanation.
Rashid said that a new power plant was was being built in Sheikhupura despite Nandipur fraud. “Pervaiz Rashid, Khawaja Saad Rafique and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will be in jails soon,” he said.
Imran Khan, Rashid said, would hold them accountable for their corruption.
Earlier, former Punjab governor Chaudhry Sarwar accused the Election Commission of backing the ruling PML-N in the by-election. “We will win the election on October 11 at every cost,” he confidently said.
