PTI maintain strength in KP, MQM-P and PPP in Sindh in local body by-polls

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as strong political force with six seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa whereas Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) emerged as major political parties in Karachi in the local body by-elections held on Sunday.
According to unofficial results, In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Awami National Party (ANP) won three seats in Swat while PTI got only one seat. PTI and Jamaat-e-Islami won three seats each in Lower Dir. Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) won two seats in Charsadda. In Karak, PTI and JUI-F won two seats each.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) secured 10 seats in Karachi in the local body by-elections held on Sunday. Pakistan People’s party remained second with eight seats while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf could get only one seat in Karachi. Two independent candidates also won seats in the local body by-polls.
MQM-P and PPP won three seats each in District South. MQM-P won three chairman seats in District West while PPP grabbed two chairmen and one councilor seat. Ine seat was secured by ANP. Tehreek-e-Insaf lost its chairman seat in District West. PTI win its lone seat from District East.
MQM-P won two seats in Hyderabad while it completed a clean sweep in Pirpur Khas. PPP gained upper hand in Sukkur, Sanghar, Tharparkar, Mehrabpur, Sehwan Sharif. PML-F was declared winners on one seat in Umarkot.
