DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Minister for Revenue Ali Amin Gandapur has surrendered himself into police custody late Monday, according to police high-up.
DPO Sadiq Hussain Baloch announced the arrest of PTI leader saying that Ali Amin will be kept at a safe place.
It should be mentioned that an FIR was registered against PTI minister at a police station of Dera Ismail Khan alleging that Gandapur forcefully taking ballot boxes during Khyber Pakhtunkhuwan (KP) Local Bodies Elections.
Also an initial report found that the revenue minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s PTI government had forcibly taken away ballot boxes from a polling station in the city.
The preliminary report said vote count was afoot in Hemath Adda polling station of Dera Ismail Khan when Gandapur accompanied by his brother Umar Amin Gandapur, a candidate for tehsil nazim, and his armed supporters appeared on the scene, picked up ballot boxes and began putting them in the minister’s car.
The on duty police officers made attempt to prevent the minister from doing so but in vain.
Later today, SHO Cantt police station Saifur Rehman registered an FIR against the minister. The FIR at Saddar police station booked Gandapur, his brother Umar and their security guards under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including assault on a public servant in order to debar him from his duties.
Complainant SHO said the MPA used abusive language against him, manhandled and gave death threats to him.
According to media reports, Ali Amin Gandapur has denied the allegations in the FIR. However, following consultations with the party hierarchy, he surrendered himself into police custody
