PTI’s Shahzad Waseem elected as senator

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate Dr Shahzad Waseem was elected senator from Punjab on Wednesday.
The Senate seat was vacated by governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar. Polling for the vacant seat started started at 0900 hrs and culminated at 1600 hrs without any break in Punjab Assembly.
The PTI’s candidate Shahzad Waseem received 181 votes, while his rival PML(N)’s Khawaja Ahmad Hassaan got 169 votes. At least 351 MPAs had voted during election. One vote was rejected.
