LAHORE: Provincial Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha presented the budgetary proposals for financial year 2015-16 before the Punjab Assembly on Friday.
The first ever woman finance minister Aisha Ghous unveiled Rs1,194 billion budget for the fiscal year of 2105-16.
Rs400 billion was allocated for development project and Rs750 billion for non-development work. Provincial government also decided to amend ratio of taxation for next financial year.
According to budget speech, Rs30 billion allocated for health sector, Rs54 billion for education, Rs31 billion for power, Rs41 for communication & works, Rs 15 billion for Khadim-e-Aala Rural Support Programme, Rs10 billion for Multan Metro Bus Project and Rs2 billion for provision of Rs5000 monthly funds to the special persons.
She will also present supplementary budget statement for outgoing financial year.
This is eighth consecutive budget of the PML-N’s provincial government.
Earlier, the Punjab Cabinet approved the budget proposals for the next fiscal year at a meeting held in Lahore with Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the chair.
The Chief Minister said the government will allocated ample funds in the budget for development of all areas of the province. He said focus has been laid on health, education, energy, clean drinking water and construction of roads in rural areas.
