Qatari Prince has nothing to do with Sharif’s properties in London: Wajid Zia

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) witness Wajid Zia on Thursday recorded his statement in Avenfield Reference filed by NAB against the Sharif family in accountability court.
In his statement, Wajid Zia said that Sharif family had not provided any evidence regarding financial dealings with the Qatari Prince.
He said that the claim of the Sharif family related to transaction of 12 million Dirhams [UAE currency] with Qatari Prince could not be verified.
Wajid Zia further said that they contacted the Qatari Prince time and again to record his statement in the case but to no avail.
This made us jump to the conclusion that the Qatari Prince did not cooperate financially with the Sharif family for London flats, Wajid Zia added.
He concluded that the Qatari Prince had nothing to do with the Sharif family’s properties in London.
During the hearing, counsel of Sharif family cross examined Wajid Zia.
After arguments of both the parties, the court adjourned hearing of the case until March 27.
Wajid Zia – a serving additional director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) – headed headed the joint investigation team (JIT) which probed the Sharif family’s assets last year on the Supreme Court’s orders.
