Rana Mashood criticizes court for setting deadline to arrest accused of Kasur incident

LAHORE: The Punjab education minister Rana Mashhood lashed out at court for ordering arrest of Kasur incident accused in 36 hours and said that it’s not courts’ jurisdiction to set the deadline on political issues.
“The accused was not abide with the court’s 36-hour deadline as court should not give deadline and not make comments on political issues,” education minister said while addressing press conference in Lahore on Saturday.
He advised to judiciary that it should speak by restricting itself with law and constitution, he continued diatribe on court said that court had banned any protest on Mall Road but a political party has been given protest call on January 17 and Punjab government was waiting court sou-moto notice in this connection.Lashing out PTI chairman Imran Khan, he said that Imran has himself buried the slogans of change as he started the game of “Pir” and “Murshad”.
Commenting on Kasur incident in which seven-year old girl Zainab was kidnapped, raped and murdered he said the provision of justice to the victim’s family was more important than playing politics on the issue as some suspects were under investigation and soon police will arrest criminals.
On January 12, Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah on Friday directed Punjab Inspector General (IG) to arrest the culprit involved in the rape and murder of seven-year-old girl Zainab in 36 hours.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice ordered to utilize the entire police force to capture the accused. He also directed to submit report comprising of all the rape cases in Punjab.
