Rawalpindi roads cleared after Sheikh Rasheed’s warning

RAWALPINDI: Administration has cleared all roads leading to Lal Haveli after Chief of Awami Muslim League, Sheikh Rasheed on Saturday warned the government of ‘paving their own ways’ if containers were not cleared for their participation in joint rally on Murree Road.
While talking to media earlier today, Rasheed warned the government of moving towards Islamabad and Benazir International Airport if movement of political workers to Rehmanabad from Liaquat Bagh was hindered.
He demanded the government of clearing the containers placed in different areas.
The administration within roughly an hour and a half opened all the roads leading to Lal Haveli. On the other hand, Haneef Abbasi of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz said that Rasheed is the leader of ‘encroachment mafia’ and the government does not fear his empty rhetoric.
Meanwhile, worst kind of traffic jam is being witnessed in different localities of Rawalpindi after containers were placed by law enforcement agencies and the government. Roads leading to each of the three big government hospitals were shut claiming a woman’s life as an ambulance was stuck.
Administration has stated that Dr Tahirul Qadri, chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek suddenly made plan to rally in the twin cities and thus arrangements on emergency basis were needed.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek is to lead a Qisas rally in the twin cities today in company of Awami Muslim League and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Murree Road from Liaquat Bagh to Rehmanabad.
The demonstration has come on the same day when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman, Imran Khan is going to lead a rally from Shahdara to Charing Cross of Mall Road in Lahore the purported purpose of which is to hold Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accountable for his wealth and earnings.
