Renowned artist Jamil Naqsh passes away in UK

LONDON: Renowned Pakistani artist Jamil Naqsh Thursday passed away in the United Kingdom. He was 80.
The family confirmed the news of his passing. “He passed away this morning at 5:30am at St Marys Hospital where was admitted four days ago,” the family said.
He had been admitted to the hospital after being infected with pneumonia.
Known as one of the greatest artists of his generation, Jamil Naqsh was known for his calligraphy, pigeons and figurative paintings. He was born in Kairana, India in 1939 and later moved to Pakistan.
A dropout of the National College of Arts, Jamil Naqsh was the recipient of Pride of Performance Award in 1989 and Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2009.
