LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Saturday dissolved the Punjab Healthcare Commission’s (PHC) board and directed the government form new border within two weeks.
Heading a special bench of the apex court, which heard case regarding appointment of PHC board members, the chief Mia Saqib Nisar told Dr Yasmin Rashid, provincial minister, “I had high hopes from you. What kind of people have you included in the board?”
She told the court that the board was formed as per the directives of the Supreme Court and members were named according to the set procedure and approval of the chief minister.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked that the board should be unbiased and independent.
The chief justice then ordered that a new board be formed comprising esteemed and qualified individuals.
