SC disqualifies Talal for 5 years in contempt of court case


ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) Thursday sentenced the PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry to imprisonment till the rising of the court.
A three-members bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed, announced decision in a contempt of court case against the PML-N leader. He was also disqualified for from holding public office for five years. The court also fined him Rs100,000.
The court had reserved its verdict on the case on July 11.
The Supreme Court had initiated contempt proceedings against Chaudhry on account of “derogatory and contemptuous speeches/statements” with regard to the court, according to a notification issued on February 2.
