SC forms committee on constitutional rights of GB’s people

Private schools should not be money-making industry: SC

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has constituted a special committee to finalize recommendations on extending constitutional rights to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
A seven-member bench of the Apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, was hearing a case regarding constitutional rights of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday.
The, headed by Attorney General of Pakistan, will comprise senior lawyers Aitzaz Ahsan, Salman Akram Raja, Javed Ahmed , Afrasiab and Secretary Ministry of Kashmir Affairs.
The chief justice remarked that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan should have all rights like other provinces.
The court directed the committee to take on board all the stakeholders and submit its recommendations by Tuesday next.
The hearing was adjourned till 24th of this month.
Meanwhiel, a three member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan today heard the case pertaining to construction of private housing societies on Railways land. The bench summoned Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmad to appear before it in person on the next hearing and brief about the misuse of railways land.
The court also directed the provincial governments to submit their replies on the matter in three day
