SC issues notices to Shahbaz, Fawad in NAB’s plea for cancellation of bail

Govt to file review petition against SC's judgement in COAS Bajwa’s extension case

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Thursday issued notices to Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif and former principal secretary to the prime minister Fawad Hassan Fawad on appeals of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against their bails.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, heard the NAB’s appeals challenging the bail granted to Shahbaz in the Ashiana housing society scam and Ramzan Sugar Mills’ cases, while Fawad Hassan Fawad’s bail in the Ashiana housing society scam.
Senior advocate Naeem Bukhari, representing the NAB, requested the court to cancel the bails which were granted to accused by the Lahore High Court (LHC) in violation of the principles laid down by the top court.
Bukhari said the high court erred in taking the true facts into consideration and alleged Shahbaz was the mastermind of the Ashiana scandal.
The court issued notices to all accused and adjourned the hearing till May 2.
