ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday summoned the performance reports of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hospitals’ management boards.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar conducted hearing of the case pertaining to the plight of KP hospitals.
Head of Lady Reading Peshawar’s administrative board Faisal Sultan told court that improvement is being brought in the condition of hospitals.
Chief Justice while rebuking him, remarked, “I have seen the poor condition of hospitals with my own eyes. Tea kettle was placed in the operation theatre of Khyber Teaching hospital. You cannot even arrange for cleanliness. Head of one board was Imran Khan’s cousin Nosherwa Barqi who lives in US all the time.”
“The trauma centre of Lady Reading Hospital was not even functional whereas in Larkana a child was taken to four different hospitals but the facility of trauma centre was not present in any of them,” he resented.
“Rawalpindi’s cardiac centre is a government hospital but working efficiently. We will not leave this issue until betterment prevails in health department,” said the CJP.
The haring of the case was adjourned till indefinite period.
