ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) will hear the contempt of court case against former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senator Nehal Hashmi today (Monday).
The former senator is to file his reply over show-cause notice served to him by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) last week over an objectionable speech delivered to a gathering on May 28 during which he threatened the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and the top court judges over Panama Leaks probe.
The three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Justice Ijaz Afzal will hear the case at 01:00pm today.
Earlier, Attorney General of Pakistan had filed content of the anti-judiciary speech in the apex court as prosecutor.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case against former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-M) senator Nehal Hashmi in Bahadurabad Police Station in Karachi on Sunday for threatening speech against judiciary.
The FIR No No122/2017 was registered on the complaint of SHO of Bahadurabad Police Station. The case was reistered under Sections 505, 228 and 189 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Nehal Hashmi had delivered an objectionable speech to a gathering on the occasion of Yaum-e-Takbeer on May 28 during which he threatened the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and the top court judges over Panama Leaks probe.
