ISLAMABAD: Summer tourism is flourishing in scenic spots of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), as around 37,452 tourists from across the country visited to various scenic destinations in a single day.
Different scenic spots of the province known for low temperature in summer season and are the main reason of attraction for tourists from plain cities where mercury even touched 45 C mark.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE) statistics shows that Galiyat, has recorded 16,371 tourists, Kaghan/Naran attracted 16,554, Malam Jabba 3,435, Chitral Lower 864 and areas of Upper Dir fascinated 156 tourists.
The KITE officials say that the hotel industry was doing a good business due to rise in summer tourism.
Moreover, a large number of tourists are also expected during Eid ul Azha holidays. The administration is in process of finalizing all arrangements to facilitate tourists particularly during holidays.
When asked, the official said Murree was already attracting a large number of domestic tourists on daily basis especially during weekend.
Additionally, summer vacation are another reason of tourists influx.
It is pertinent to mention here that yesterday, Tourism Department with KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair had held a review meeting which was attended by Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, MPA Mian Sharaft Ali, Principal Secretary to CM Amjad Ali Khan, administrative secretaries concerned and other relevant officials.
Sharing progress on different projects, the meeting was informed that work is under way on various access roads, which will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs13 billion to ensure easy access to tourist destinations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
