Senate body direct to pay grass salaries,PSM pensioners dues


ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production on Tuesday directed to pay the gross salaries and also reviews the issues of retired employees of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM).
The committee stressed to pay their provident funds and pensions dues for several months.
The meeting of Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Hidayatullah in Parliament house for discussing on matter referred to the Committee by Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani for resolving the issues on non- payment of outstanding salaries, gratuity and provident finds of PSM employees.
Chairman of the Committee Senator Hidayatullah urged for earlier payment of outstanding of PSM employees,which was their constitutional rights.
In meeting Secretary Privatization, Irfan Ali has briefed the committee on preparation of comprehensive plan by the the government for payments of PSM employees.
He added that after the approval of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) the government has paid fourth months salaries dues of PSM employees from June to September 2017 to address the liabilities.
Secretary Privatization informed the committee that Rs. 15 billion dues would pays to PSM pensioner till June 2018.
He said that PSM has to pay arrears to Rs 10.8 billion to the retired employees this years,2017.
The meeting was attended by Senator Taj Haider, Hari Ram , Khanzada Khan, secretary Industries and Production Maroof Afzal and other officials of ministries. …APP
