Senators urge ECP to ensure level playing field for all political parties

Opposition in Senate flays govt over flour crisis and wheat shortage

ISLAMABAD: Senators have urged the caretaker governments and the Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure level playing field to all political parties for free, fair, and transparent elections.
Speaking on floor of the House, they said candidates are being pressurized to either change their party loyalties or quit election race.
They said the Election Commission should also take notice of the media gagging. The lawmakers also demanded of the chair to constitute committee of the whole, where Chief Election Commissioner and ECP Secretary should be summoned to respond lawmakers’ concerns.
Those, who spoke on the occasion, include Sherry Rehman, Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Mian Raza Rabbani, Moula Bux Chandio, Usman Khan Kakar, Shibli Faraz, Sitara Ayaz, Rehman Malik, and Musaddik Malik.
