KHANEWAL: Seven passengers lost their lives and 35 others sustained serious injuries when a Multan bound bus carrying more than 42 passengers overturned while trying to save a motorcyclist near Khanewal.
According to details, the unfortunate incident occurred new Rango Bridge on Khanewal National Highway. Rescue teams rushed to the place of the incident as soon as report was received and rescued the injured after a two hours long operation and shifted them to District Hospital and Nishter Hospital Multan.
Condition of seven passengers including three girls is critical. However, a 6-month-old baby miraculously survived without receiving any injuries.
Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas has called all staff of Trauma Center on duty. He also expressed sorrow and grief over loss of precious human lives and directed to provide best medical facilities to the injured.
The bus was carrying over 42 passengers in violation of Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) issued by Punjab government for intra-city travel amid coronavirus outbreak in the country.
