ISLAMABAD: The accountability court verdict in Avenfield properties reference – sentencing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt. (Retd) Safdar to different terms – has been challenged in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.
In separate appeals filed by Sharif family’s lawyer, the court was requested to release Nawaz Sharif, who is also the supreme leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz and Safdar on bail till the IHC’s decision on the appeals.
They also requested the court to declare the decision of accountability court – including their jail terms, fine imposed on them, their disqualification and confiscation of London properties – null and void.
Moreover, the accountability court judge Mohammad Bashir and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have been made parties in the appeals.
