LHC Judge recuses from hearing Sharif's plea against Avenfield verdict

ISLAMABAD: The Sharif family has decided to challenge in Islamabad High Court (IHC) the sentences handed down by accountability court in Avenfield properties reference.
According to media reports, the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (Retd) Safdar will challenge the verdict of accountability court in IHC on July 6.
Nawaz’s lawyer Khawaja Haris has prepared the appeals for the Sharif family, reports said and added that the former premier, his daughter and son-in-law have signed the power of attorney in this connection.
Meanwhile, the defence lawyers have informed their clients that the possibility of getting any relief in the sentence would be difficult should they fail to return to Pakistan within ten days.
On Friday, the accountability court handed down 10 years jail to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif, seven years to his daughter Maryam Nawaz and one year to his son-in-law Capt (Retd) Mohammad Safdar in Avenfield properties reference.
The court also imposed 8 million pounds on Nawaz Sharif and 2 million pounds on his daughter Maryam Nawaz.
