Sheikh Rasheed announces resignation from NA, advises Imran to do so

LAHORE: In a big call during the Mall Road protest by joint opposition, Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed has announced his resignation from the National Assembly.
Speaking to the protest of joint opposition engineered by Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri, Sheikh Rasheed said, “I resign from my National Assembly seat.”
The AML Chief said that he was announcing his resignation to express solidarity with the opposition united against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), which has the federal government in the country.
He also advised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan to resign from his seat to exert greater pressure on the ruling party PML-N.
Sheikh Rasheed added that he was eager to see Imran Khan as the prime minister of the country adding he would be disappointed if the PTI Chief did not become the premier.
He also advised the opposition parties to unite for the dissolution of the assemblies.
In reaction, Tahirul Qadri hugged Rasheed after his resignation announcement.
Later in his speech to the rally, Qadri said that Sheikh Rasheed was man of the match of the protest.
