Shopkeepers warned against overcharging customers during Ramadan

DIR UPPER: The district administration has warned the shopkeepers against charging customers more than prescribed rates for edible items in the holy month of Ramadan.
Following instructions of Deputy Commissioner Dir Upper, Irfanullah Mehsood to ensure affordable prices and quality essential commodities in the local markets, Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC) Umar Khan paid surprise visits to various shops including Milk shops in city bazaar here on Friday.
During the crackdown, several shopkeepers were fined of Rs. 10,000 for violating defying relevant laws and sent sample of suspected milk for laboratory test.
Along with drug inspector, the ACC also imposed fine on medical stores for selling illegal medicines and seized the stock. Later, he also visited slaughter house and inspected hygiene standard.
Meanwhile, people appreciated the district administration for extending collaboration in arranging Iftar for passengers and poor people in the holy month of Ramadan besides taking action against profiteers and hoarders. – APP
