A soldier of the Pakistan Army was martyred in a gunfight with terrorists near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the military’s media wing, ISPR, the terrorists attempted to infiltrate but were stopped by the security forces.
The exchange of fire occurred on the night of December 19 and 20 in the Rajgal area. During the clash, four terrorists were killed. The martyred soldier was identified as Sepoy Amir Sohail Afridi, aged 22, who was a resident of Khyber.
In its official statement, the ISPR urged the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective control on their side of the border. It called on Afghan authorities to prevent the use of Afghan soil by extremists for attacks against Pakistan.
The statement emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its borders and fighting terrorism. “Such sacrifices by our brave soldiers strengthen our determination to eliminate this menace,” the ISPR said.
Pakistan has consistently asked the Afghan government to play its role in managing the border effectively. The security forces remain resolute in their mission to protect the country and defeat terrorists.
