KARACHI: A special investigation committee was set up on Saturday to carry out a thorough probe into May 13 gun attack on Ismailis in Karachi, DIG Dr Jamil said.
At least 45 people were killed when gunmen ambushed a community bus of Ismailis near Safoora chowrangi on May 13.
A few days after the deadly assault, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah announced that four attackers were arrested by police. One of the attackers was a graduate of prestigious buss institute IBA.
According to Dr Jamil, DIG East Munir Sheikh will head the committee. SSP East, SSP Investigation Malir and SIU will be part of the committee. One representative will be taken from counter-terrorism department.
Briefing the media, he said that four men who were held in connection with Safoora attack, also confessed to their involvement in 37 key terror-related cases.
The suspects used to carry out attacks in Hyderabad, Sukkur and Karachi.
