Afghan Taliban ban political parties, declaring their existence violates Sharia
The Taliban have banned all political parties in Afghanistan, declaring the existence of political parties was against Islamic law or Sharia.
“There is no Sharia basis for political parties to operate in the country,” Acting Minister of Justice Abdul Hakim Sharai announced the decision at a press conference in Kabul on Wednesday.
“They do not serve the national interest, nor does the nation appreciate them,” the minister said.
“Our experiences have shown that these political parties are the only cause for the nation’s current state of devastation,” Sharai noted.
