Tayyeba torture case to be heard by Islamabad High Court

Judge, wife get one year imprisonment in Tayyaba torture case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Friday rejected a petition filed by Asma Jahangir pleading that Tayyaba torture case should be transferred from the high court to session court and gave verdict that IHC would hear the case.
The court disposed of the petition filed by human rights activist Asma Jahangir ruling that she was not a party to the case.
In March, the Supreme Court ordered the trial court to stop hearing the case as the magistrate of the session court could be a colleague of the main accused in the case.
Ten-year-old Tayyaba was working as a maid in the house of a serving Additional District and Sessions Judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan and it is being said that he and his wife has tortured the girl.
