Teenage boy martyred in unprovoked Indian firing along LoC

MUZAFFARABAD: A teenage boy was martyred and his younger sister critically injured in unprovoked firing by Indian border forces along Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Thursday.
According to a police official in Forward Kahuta, the Indian forces opened unprovoked firing on civilian population area in Akhori village near Nezapir sector of Haveli district. The police said that a 15-year-old Tahir son of Muhammad Hafeez, was martyred and his 12-year-old sister Tahira injured in the firing.
The local officials said that the victims were standing along the boundary wall of their house when a mortar shell landed in their courtyard.
The boy was hit by shrapnel on his chest and died on the spot, while the girl was critically injured after a splinter passed through her head causing her a brain injury.
Injured girl was initially shifted to a military-run health facility in district headquarters. However, she was later on referred to Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahayan Hospital Rawalakot.
