Three more Pakistanis martyred in Indian firing in Battal sector

Two civilians martyred, five injured in unprovoked shelling across LoC: ISPR

MUZAFFARABAD: Another three locals have been martyred on Tuesday as India opened unprovoked fire across Line of Control (LoC) in Battal Sector.
Tensions between the two neighbours have surged in recent months, with India wrongly holding Pakistan responsible for an attack on an army base in Occupied Kashmir in September that killed 19 soldiers.
There have been repeated violations of ceasefire by India against Pakistan ever since costing fatalities leaving many wounded.
“A mother and her daughter were killed after a shell fired by Indian troops hit their house in Mandhole village in Battal sector,” local government official Chaudhry Altaf told foreign news agency.
Two others were wounded and heavy shelling by Indian troops was continuing on the civilian population, Altaf said. The ages of the victims were not immediately clear.
Separately a man was killed and a woman was wounded in shelling in the same area, he added.
Another local official, Sardar Najeeb, confirmed the casualties.
On Monday three people including a policeman were killed in Nakyal sector in heavy shelling by Indian troops, officials said.
The officials said Indian troops were now routinely shelling several villages on the Pakistani side of the LoC, the de facto border dividing the disputed Himalayan state.
India on the other hand keeps on falsely accusing Pakistani troops of cross-border firing.
According to officials, thousands of people have fled homes near the border. More than 70 schools have also been closed in Nakyal and Goi sectors, authorities said.
Kashmir has been divided between India and Pakistan since their independence from Britain in 1947. Both claim the territory in full and have fought two wars over the mountainous region.
Nearly 90 people have been killed in clashes in held-Kashmir under the watch of a puppet government. …Agencies
