Time to set national priorities, depoliticise police: Imran

LAHORE: The time has come for all provinces to adopt effective measure and depoliticize police force to curb militancy, said Imran Khan, chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Monday.
“After APS we stood united on National Action Plan (NAP), this is the time again for a national consensus to go after terrorists in every province”, said Imran Khan while talking to reporters after inquiring after health of Sunday’s deadly bombing victims at Jinnah Hospital.
This is the time to depoliticise police and use it to strengthen counter terrorism, Imran Khan said adding it needs to be free of interference.
Imran Khan further said that police has a massive Role in counter terrorism; police have their intelligence on pulse of what is happening in their areas.
Let there be no doubt that whole nation stands United against terrorism. It’s time we put that into action in counter terrorism, Imran stressed.
“We need full focus on security; we need to fix our national priorities. Only a secure Pakistan will be a prosperous one”, imran remarked.
Commenting on Pak-Afghan border, Imran Khan said that borders need patrolling. “We have continuously asked for a Rangers force on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administrative Tribal Areas (FATA) border. Punjab needs it too”, concluded Imran.
