Universities barred from granting affiliation to new law colleges

SC

LAHORE: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan has on Saturday barred all public sector universities from granting affiliation to new law colleges for failing to meet standards.
The development came when Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Saqib Nisar heard the case pertaining to affiliation of substandard and unregistered law colleges at the Supreme Court Lahore Registry on Saturday.
Expressing his annoyance over the deteriorating standards of law education, Justice Saqib Nisar observed that universities had come up with their own educational system.
He remarked that the universities were doing whatever they felt like.
The apex court also constituted a committee headed by Advocate Hamid Khan to supervise reforms regarding the matter.
