KARACHI: The opposition Tuesday disrupted the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC)’s city council session, which was chaired by Mayor Waseem Akhtar. The session was adjourned without any proceedings.
The opposition raised slogans against mayor while MQM-P responded by raising slogans in favour of Waseem Akhtar. The opposition members tore agenda copies of the session and accused the mayor of corruption.
Talking to newsmen after the session, Waseem Akhtar said that the opposition did not know about the law, that he was ready to take up their any resolution, if they had, after completing the agenda as it was a routine session.
Waseem while referring to the today’s disorder in the session, he said that the banners and chanting of slogans was just to appear in the media.
He said that the parliamentary process is to first let the agenda complete but that didn’t happen. He said that the MQM-P has majority in the council.
