ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, following initiation of dialogue bet¬ween the United States (US) and Taliban for peace negotiations and foreign troops’ withdrawal from Afghanistan – asserted that US President Donald Trump has acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for mediating to resolve the conflict in Afghanistan.
In an interview to Gulf News, he stated that Trump has modified US policy towards Pakistan and the top leaders of both countries could meet in the near future.
“However, proper results of the dialogue between US and Taliban are being awaited,” he went on to say.
Regarding dialogue with India, he said Pakistan would again approach Indian leadership for holding a round of talks after elections in India are concluded.
“Pakistan’s doors for talks are open whether Rahul Gandhi wins or Narendra Modi,” he added.
