Woman among three extortionists arrested in Peshawar: CTD

PESHAWAR: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested three extortionists including a woman during an operation in Peshawar.
According to a statement of the CTD, on the directives of the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the CTD has started crackdown down against extortionists in the province. The CTD carried out a raid in Pishtakhara of Peshawar. The CTD claimed that three extortionists including a woman were arrested during the action. They were involved in hand grenade attacks on citizens and businessmen, who had refused to pay extortion, the CTD added. The CTD claimed that the accused belong to banned group TTP.
The CTD maintained that the arrested extortionists had demanded Rs20 million as extortion from former parliamentarians on December 11 last year. The extortionists had carried hand grenade attacks after they refused to pay extortion, the CTD statement added. According to CTD, the extortionists have also demanded extortion from an own of the car showroom on Ring Road. The owner of the showroom was attacked with hand grenade three times over his refusal to pay extortion.
