US seeks to salvage Afghan peace after attacks but leverage wanes

ISLAMABAD: United States’ special representative for Afghanistan reconciliation process, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad’s visit to Pakistan has been delayed.
According to reports citing American embassy sources, the visit was postponed considering security concerns.
Zalmay Khalilzad was scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on Tuesday (today) for consultation on the contemporary US-Taliban dialogue with the country’s civil and military leadership.
Currently, the special representative of the United States is in Afghanistan.
