Zardari’s close aide Awais Muzaffar Tappi arrested from Dubai

DUBAI: There are conflicting reports about arrest of former President and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s close aide Awais Muzaffar Tappi from Dubai with the help of Interpol.
The former Sindh minister Awais Muzaffar Tappi is accused of laundering money worth billion of rupees and selling thousands of state land. According to some reports, the Interpol has arrested Owais Muzaffar Tappi, a close confidante and foster brother of Asif Ali Zardari, in Dubai.
The arrest was made on Pakistan’s request and Tappi was expected to be transferred to Pakistan soon.
However, according some other reports, the chief financial official of the Omni Group was arrested in Dubai, not Muzaffar Tappi.
The former Sindh Assembly lawmaker is accused of selling government lands in violation of laws.
