Zulfi allowed to leave Pakistan on basis of affidavit to return: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Azam Khan has said that he granted one time permission to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s close friend Zulfi Bukhari to travel Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
Briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Interior Thursday, Azam said Bukhari asked for a one-time permission to travel abroad and submitted an affidavit stating that he would return.
He added that following the request of Zulfi Bukhari, he was granted on time permission to leave the country.
Azam Khan also rejected the speculations that Imran Khan had phoned him to remove Bukhari’s name from the blacklist.
His name was placed on the blacklist in the absence of a cabinet committee so that he would not leave the country, Azam said.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court ordered Zulfi Bukhari to cooperate with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in probe against him.
