110 arrested in crackdown against profiteers, encroachment mafia


PESHAWAR:District administration Peshawar has arrested 110 persons during crackdown against profiteers and encroachment mafia in last three days, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.
The arrested profiteers and accused involved in encroachment included bakers, butchers, vegetable & fruit sellers, cooked tea sellers, grocers and others. In this connection on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Saqib Raza Aslam, the Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs), Muhammad Mughees Sanaullah and Bashir Ahmad carried out operation against profiteers and encroachment mafia on G.T. Road, Ring Road and City Circular Road and arrested 19 persons. Similarly, AACs Saadullah Jan and Salahuddin conducted raids in Gulbahar and Peshtakhara areas and arrested 22 persons for profiteering and display of goods outside their shops while AAC Tariq Hussain and Javed Anwar Kamal arrested 17 profiteers from Charsadda Road.
Furthermore, AAC Shazia Atta conducted raids on different markets of Hayatabad and taken into custody 21 persons for profiteering and erecting of encroachments while AACs Qaiser Khan Kundi and Inayatullah Khan arrested 16 persons for profiteering and display of goods outside their shops from Warsak Road and Tehkhal areas. AAC Sara Tawab also carried out raids on profiteers on University Road and arrested 15 persons.– APP
