KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has approved Rs 40 million for the feasibility study of Karachi Circular Railway. He has also ordered all encroachments on the route of Karachi circular railway within a week.
The chief approved the fund at the meeting he chaired over Karachi circular railway. The report presented by DS Railway said that the total property of the KCR is 360 kilometers of which 66 percent is being encroached and 5,653 houses would have to be demolished to clear the encroachments. An additional 360 acres land will be required and the cost of the project is $ 2.6 billion, he further informed.
Murad directed Commissioner Karachi t meet all the Deputy Commissioners to make plans for the removal of these encroachments.
The JCC has asked to submit to feasibility report within three months and no negligence would thus be acceptable, the chief minister warned.
